Frequently asked questions
Will resizing stretch or distort my image?
Not if the aspect ratio lock stays on. With it enabled, changing the width automatically recalculates a proportional height (and vice versa), so the image keeps its original proportions. Turning the lock off lets you set width and height independently, which can distort the image.
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. Resizing is done locally using the HTML canvas API. The image never leaves your device or gets sent to a server.
Can I resize by percentage instead of exact pixels?
Yes. Enter a percentage of the original size, such as 50% to halve both dimensions, and the width and height fields update automatically while keeping proportions intact.
What happens if I enter an invalid width or height?
The tool blocks resizing and shows an error for values that are zero, negative, not a number, or larger than 10000 pixels on either side, since those would either produce no image or exceed what browsers can reliably render on a canvas.
Does resizing reduce file size?
Usually yes, since fewer pixels generally means a smaller file, especially when combined with a JPEG or WebP output format. For file size reduction without changing dimensions, use the Sadevz Image Compressor instead.
Can I upscale an image to a larger size?
Yes, you can enter dimensions larger than the original, though enlarging a raster image beyond its native resolution will not add real detail and can make it look softer or blurrier.
What are the size presets for?
The presets fill in common dimensions used for social media posts, covers, and thumbnails so you don't have to look up exact pixel sizes yourself. You can still fine-tune the values afterward.
